Advice on last leg of Spain driving trip | Europe Forum | Fodor's …
May 20th, 2012
I’m looking for some advice on the end leg of a 2 week driving trip through Spain (and Portugal for 2 days).
On this end leg, we start driving east from Lisbon and we must be back in Barcelona on the fifth day for our flight home.
Earlier in the trip we will see Madrid, so we would be coming back along the southern parts such as Andalucia.
I know we can’t see everything as time is short, but would be the must sees?
Our main focus is scenery, maybe beach, were not so much into the arts.
I had been thinking Seville on the first day travelling back. The the White Hill towns, but was also interested in Gibraltar, Malaga and the Nerja Caves,
Perhaps the Alhambra lastly in Granada before making the big trek back to Barca.
Anyone have any advice on what would be appropriate/realistic for this trek?
Thanks in advance.

New camera setup looking for advice????
May 20th, 2012
The image you sent be was:
Shutter 1/34
F-stop f/5.4
ISO 100
Focal Length 22mmWhile that’s a pretty slow speed, it *should* be good enough unless your tripod is made of rubber. It could be the focus is just off, but to me it looks directionally off, which is why I think it’s the tripod. Are you pressing the shutter button by hand? If so, you might see if you have a timer on the camera, which would let you push the button, it waits 5-10 seconds (while the tripod settles down from your finger push), and then shoots the shot.

Pundit & Pundette: Some advice to busy mothers from CS Lewis
May 14th, 2012From Letters to an American Lady:
Don’t be too easily convinced that God really wants you to do all sorts of work you needn’t do. Each must do his duty “in that state of life to which God has called him”. Remember that a belief in the virtues of doing for doing’s sake is characteristically feminine, characteristically American, and characteristically modern: so that three veils may divide you from the correct view! There can be intemperance in work just as in drink. What feels like zeal may be only fidgets or even the flattering of one’s self-importance. As MacDonald says “In holy things may be unholy greed”. And by doing what “one’s station and its duties” does not demand, one can make oneself less fit for the duties it does demand and so commit some injustice. Just you give Mary a little chance as well as Martha!
Yours, Jack
I think there’s a lot in that. Busy-ness can become an end in itself. (I touched upon that theme here.)
Hat tip to Adrienne, who included the quotation in a post about motherhood and work a while back.

Fashion Designers On The Best Advice Their Mothers Gave Them …
May 14th, 2012Happy Mother’s Day, everyone! In honor of this very special day, we’ve taken the expression “mother knows best” to heart and rounded up some of the best pieces of advice that top designers say they ever received from their moms.
The bits of wisdom range from sweet (Elbaz) to inspiring (DVF) to somewhat questionable (Lagerfeld), but no matter what they all seem to have done the trick!
Oh, and Ford‘s is technically from his grandmother. It’s her day today too!

Watch Jon Hamm Give Advice to Teenagers :: Blogs :: Awesome of …
May 11th, 2012
While Jon Hamm’s Mad Men character, Don Draper, might not be the perfect role model for teenagers, we’re happy to know that he’s a little different in real life. A video posted on rookiemag.com showed the actor in a segment called “Ask a Grown Man,” where Hamm answered five questions from teenagers (one identified herself as “16-ish”) that ranged from girls farting to style tips.
Hamm’s answers, while entertaining and painfully frank, were fairly sincere. But maybe the funniest part of the segment was Hamm’s sign-off to his viewers: “You’re probably too young to watch Mad Men, so enjoy The Hunger Games.”
Check out the video below.
